Growing up as an INFJ HSP wasn’t easy. One thing I heard often was “You’re too sensitive.” Yes, as you grow, you have to learn how to function with that trait in a healthy way, but it’s not like you can just stop being sensitive if you’re wired that way. Being sensitive and empathetic are good things. The world needs those qualities.
Right in the feels.
I wish I had heard those words growing up, too.

I think it’s something we have to continually tell our inner child.

This is absolutely true. But it’s also our cryptonite. Very hard on the heart but worth every pain.

I’m often told I’m too sensitive, but then the empathy can help you relate & help others, especially the teenage girls I work with.

Love it. I still need to tell myself this once in a while. I work in a field with engineers and tech people. My empathy is foreign to them. A few years ago we did a Strength Finders thing. My top strength was empathy. That totally baffled them and I loved every minute of it. Thanks for sharing.

Hi! Yes, I think we need to continually tell ourselves (or inner child) this, especially if we didn’t hear it when we were little. My top Strength is empathy as well! Though I am in the arts, so it’s different from being around engineers and techies. 🙂 Thanks for your comment and for connecting.
